I must admit that I have always looked with admiration and interest throughout the process of building up the Italian Democratic Party, if only because you could see on one hand the attempt - I believe quite sincerely - from the old elites post-communist and post-Democrats to put aside the past, the other because all the path towards the PD contained some interesting ideas for the whole of Italy, starting from the idea (excellent) of the primaries. What they were and that they are more or less "driven" - even if "driven" means the interference of senior leadership, not the systematic falsification of results - they have introduced a bit of "social mobility" within the largest party in the Italian left, with the inevitable result of "contagion" virtuous to the rest of the political system, even to the PDL, known to be more similar to top-down procedures (as often guess).
Even Veltroni I've always had - and I - a good impression: of course, you could see a mile away that many of his speeches were "pap" and tumbler of platitudes in which he did not believe him either, he knew that many of his positions "revolutionary "(as the expulsion of communists from the PD) were dictated by the convenience of the moment, however, the fact that he has already said and done some things worthy of respect, at least mine.
In these frantic hours later to his "great refusal" (ie his resignation by the Secretary) is fashionable to suggest that it was not appropriate as his impulsive abandonment, that the master does not go away as the boat sinks, etc.. etc. Many useless "blah blah" in my opinion.
Apart from the fact that I always seemed a little mythological metaphor of the captain, who remains on the deck of the sinking ship: when have we ever seen this actually happen? - renewal of the left image by inserting a healthy dose of pragmatism of ideas within it;

does not take a genius to figure out how they would go instead of answering the next few months veltroniana: continuous fights inside the PD, jabs by the leaders of "friends", likely electoral defeats, and then further allegations to the Secretary, until it deny-little by little all of his "chosen field" in the name of the return to a model of center- seen as abnormal and inconclusive until 2008.
Veltroni's not hard to believe when he says he has not been enabled to put into practice all of his political program: it would have had to take out Bassolino, but he did not have the strength nor the ability perhaps "legal", would have had to hunt D'Alema, but he knew that she would not been able to do an act of, should have done a number of things that only the powers-emergency and "semi-dictatorship" would have been allowed to do. But those conditions may occur only in extreme emergencies when there is a risk the very survival, in this case not so much as the theme of the Democratic Party but the whole idea of \u200b\u200ban alternative bloc the center. Despite the defeats
ringed by Policy 2008 to now, however, that extraordinary feeling of danger is not present nor in the leadership of the Democratic Party or in much of the basis that, deep down, feels a bit 'lack of invective against -Berlusconi.
